Annapurna Circuit Trekking

Annapurna Circuit TrekkingAnnapurna Circuit trekking also known as Round Annapurna trekking or Thorung La pass trek, is one of the most popular treks in the world. The highest point of the Annapurna Circuit trek is the Thorung La pass (5416m). Annapurna Circuit trekking is a great and challenging trekking pass in the Annapurna region. We can start the trek from Besisahar (820m). It is situated in the Lamjung district of Nepal and it is possible to go directly by bus from Kathmandu to Khudi and start trekking from there. It is about an hour’s bus journey from Besisahar. The Annapurna Circuit trek sees good footpaths, villages, lonely beautiful and arid valleys.

If you are interested in visiting one of the most magnificent places on earth, then join me. I offer an excellent service, which will help you turn your dream into reality. The trek has fantastic geology and has great cultural diversity, which is necessary for a once in a lifetime opportunity for the adventure lovers. To complete the Annapurna Circuit trek, you will not need any experience of climbing and just normal walking experience will be enough. This trek circumnavigates the Annapurna Himal, so you will witness magnificent views of these giants that can’t be seen from anywhere else.

Natural Hot Spring in TatopaniYour adventure will expose you to everything from lush bamboo forests to bone dry high mountain landscapes. We start the Annapurna Circuit trek from lowland altitudes, which is the best way to acclimatize your body to make you fit for the higher altitude. If you follow the trail from Besisahar or Khudi, it will be less likely to get high altitude sickness, but still we recommend one acclimatization day in Manang and an excursion day around the Manang valley to give you more confidence with the high altitude. Manang village is a nice place to stay where you will get the chance to explore Gangapurna glacier, Gangapurna Lake and visit the monasteries. The trekking route for Tilicho Lake takes you to one of the highest lakes in the world. Tilicho Lake is situated at (4919m). For the more adventurous we can go over the Mesokanto La pass and descend down to Jomsom The Annapurna circuit trek also follows the Great Himalaya trail. After crossing over the Thorung La (5416m) we will descend to the village of Muktinath (3800m), which has been attracting both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims for centuries. Located in Muktinath is the Jwala Mai Temple, where a flame of natural gas burns from a trickle of water. Many Hindus believe that Brahma offered this miracle to the gods himself. You’ll get to explore other interesting temples in Muktinath before we descend into the Kali Gandaki river valley. To cross the Thorung La pass, it is always better to go via Besisahar, but some trekkers / backpackers choose to go via Muktinath, which is very difficult and are much more likely to get high altitude sickness. The Annapurna Circuit trek has some of the best panoramic and classical views in Nepal, where you can explore. These views you will see are Lamjung Himal (6931m), Manaslu (8163m), Pisang Peak (6091m), Gangapurna Himal (7454m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), Annapurna 1 (8091m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (6940m), Tukuche Peak (7500m) Annapurna South (7219m) Hiun Chuli (6441m) Machhapuchhre (6993m) and many more.

Annapurna Circuit TrekkingThere are three itineraries below, but we can customise the trek to your needs. For those that have a short holiday, you can start from Besisahar and cross the Thorung La pass and then trek to Jomsom and fly back to Pokhara. For those that have longer holidays the trek continues to Ghorepani, Poon Hill and to extend the holiday further, you can take in Annapurna Base Camp.

If you desire, we can also trek to Tilicho Lake situated at 4919m, one of highest lakes in Nepal. We can arrange this trekking very safely within the Annapurna Circuit trek.

Permits for Annapurna Circuit trekking are applied through the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). See the ‘Trekking Permits’ link under ‘Trekking Info’ for current fees and a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card will also be obtained.

Facilities in Annapurna Circuit trekking:
This trekking area has good lodges (Teahouse) facilities managed by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) and camping trips can also be organized. Lodge management committees make good camping sites.
