Tamang Heritage Trek, the new trekking trail towards Langtang Region. Lantang is located about 120 km toward the north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border, Langtang is one of the nearest trekking destinations from Kathmandu, Extending in an east-west direction, it is bordered on the north by the main crest of the Himalayas, dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,245 m), the highest peak in the area. To the south are the Chimse Danda (ridge), crossed by the Ganja La Pass (5,122 m), and Jugal Himal, culminating in Dorje Lakpa (6,989 m)
The inhabitants of the Langtang Valley are thought to be descendants of Tibetans from Kerung. The Tamang Heritage Trek, the Tamang ethnic group with a marked influence of Tibetan culture and tradition which is noticed in their lifestyle closely resembling that of most Tibetan villages, their culture goes back to hundreds of years, the craftsmanship, dress, traditionally built stone houses, and the carved wooden porches reflect their rich Himalayan heritage. They are mainly sheep and yak herders, but grow some hardy grains and vegetables. The daily life of the villagers includes raising livestock, agriculture, and trade with Kerung in Tibet. Wheat, maize, potato, soybean, and millet are their staple food. Partly protected as Langtang National Park, visit to the area gives Himalayan nature experience and an insight into the lifestyle and culture of the Tamangs who are predominant inhabitants of the region.
New trekking trail: Tamang Heritage Trail, offers yet another option and a peek at the Himalayan lifestyle and culture. The unexplored part of the Langtang National Park has recently been connected with Tamang Heritage Trail.
Day01: Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel (free in the evening)
Meet with our representative at the airport and drive to the hotel.
Day02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu,
Visits to Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. Each of these temples are the holiest to Buddhists and hindus. Take a trip to the Durbar square which is well preserved and showcases ancient architecture and craftsmanship.
Day03: Kathmandu – Dunce – Syabru, Drive Kathmandu- Rasuwa via Trishuli, Nuwakot. (7hrs/ Overnight lodge)
Day04: Syabru – Goljung – Gatlang- Drive Syabru – Goljung – Gatlang.
Experience the Tamang culture. See scenery from viewpoint. Village walk. See cultural show at Goljung or Gatlang (5hrs/ overnight at community lodge)
Day05: Gatlang – Tatopani- Trekking from Gatlang – Tatopani.
Possibility to take hot bath at natural hot spring, Sightseeing of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal on the way. Experience of the Tamang culture (6hrs/ overnight at lodge)
Day06: Tatopani – Nagthali – Thuman- Trekking from Tatopani – Nagthali via Brindang.
Animals like monkeys and deer can be seen on the way. Panoramic view can be seen over Langtang Mountain on the way. (5hrs/ overnight home stay)
Day07: Thuman – Timure – Rasuwagadhi – Timure- Trekking from Thuman to Timure and visit nearby historical Rasuwagadhi.
Observe Tibeto-Burman Tamang culture on the two villages on the way (5hrs/ overnight lodge). Tamang rituals, Tibetan culture, festivals, traditional architecture, costumes, local Syabru dances make the exposure to this culture very unique.
Day08: Timure – Briddim- Trekking from Timure – Briddim.
Observe village life of Briddim. Watch cultural program shown by community members. Experience of home-stay and Tamang culture (5hrs/ overnight home stay)
Day09: Briddhim – Syabrubesi- Trekking from Briddim – Syabrubesi via Wangel. (4hrs/ overnight lodge)
Day10: Syabrubesi – Dhunche – Kathmandu (7 hrs / overnight hotel)
Continuous travel from Dhunche to Kathmandu.
Day 11 & 12: Pokhara (mum’s garden Lodge)
Stay in Pokhara at Mum’s garden Lodge. It is a comfortable abode for weary travelers.
Day 13 & 14: Chitwan Jungle and tharu village tours
Elephant ride into the jungle in Chitwan National park. A tour of tharu village is in the cards as well.
Day 15: Back to Kathmandu
Day 16: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
One day before leaving take a trip around Kathmandu.
Day 17: Departure
